Point 8×42 binoculars have a compact design and low weight. It uses an internal focusing mechanism, eliminating all external structural elements, often exposed to mechanical damage or dirt. The casing of the binoculars is made of light metal alloys. It is durable and resistant to damage, and at the same time covered with a veneer that is pleasant to the touch, which ensures a firm grip. Fully resistant to water, it meets the requirements of the IPX7 water resistance class, which means that it can withstand even half an hour of immersion in water up to 1 m deep. Thanks to the nitrogen-free nitrogen filling, all optical elements inside are protected against fogging.
Despite the metal construction, the binoculars have a low, for its class, 640 g weight. Interestingly, in Point models, the caps for lenses have magnetic properties and can be easily attached to the housing when tilted. It is a very practical solution, thanks to which they do not disturb during observation.
The optical path of the binoculars uses roof prisms made of BaK4 glass of small dimensions, and all optically active surfaces of lenses and prisms were covered with multilayer anti-reflection coatings of the FMC type, developed by Yukon. These are known under the trade name Yukon True Color ™. Thanks to the True Color ™ coatings, the device provides an unusually bright, yet high-contrast image with natural colors.
The crowning of the Point 8×42 model are twist-up eyecups that allow you to set the appropriate distance to the eye during observation. The large, 21 mm distance between the binoculars’ exit pupil and the eyepiece makes the binoculars suitable for people wearing corrective lenses.
